With the thousands and thousands of films and TV shows available on platforms like Netflix, deciding what to watch can be tricky. But if you’re looking for a new series to binge, look no further. You may have seen Netflix’s new political thriller, The Night Agent, trending on TikTok or Instagram, and I can confirm it’s for good reason. The show is centered around an FBI agent who answers an emergency distress call that leads him to uncover a conspiracy within the White House. Consisting of only 10 episodes, the show is a quick binge that will have you on the edge of your seat and unable to walk away from the action.
The Night Agent was so riveting that I began rewatching it immediately after finishing it. Each plot line is full of twists and turns that I truly did not see coming. By the end of the season, they all seamlessly blend into the others, and at no point do the developments seem cheesy or forced. What also makes this show so enjoyable is the two lovable leads and the chemistry they have. Unlike other political shows I’ve seen where the lead is cold or underdeveloped, the writers of The Night Agent do a great job of creating a backstory for the main character, Peter, that will make it impossible to dislike him. In my opinion, the show had the perfect balance of action, romance, humor, and intellect.
As it is nearing the top of Netflix’s most popular English series of all time, The Night Agent was just renewed for a second season. Because the first season was excellent, I do worry that it will be difficult for the writers to top it. I’ve found that for many series I’ve seen, the first season or two are the best, and then the following seasons decline in quality. Given the attention the show has received so far, I am hoping that Netflix will put lots of resources into maintaining the high quality that the first season had. Even if the future plot lines do not compare to that of the first season, I am sure I will keep watching now that I’m hooked. I encourage all of you to watch as well and hopefully become as invested as I am!
Hi Abby, thanks for writing about this. I saw that it was on Netflix but I wasn't sure if I should watch it. It looked just like another stereotypical action tv show. However this post has inspired me to give it a try. I will watch it and let you know what I think!

ReplyDeleteI have seen a lot of tiktoks about this show and have been meaning to start it! After reading your insights about the show, I think it is something I would really like. I like when I think a show is going to go in a certain, predictable way, and I end up being completely wrong.

ReplyDeleteI'm just about to finish up a show on Netflix so reading your post is perfect timing. The show sounds super interesting. I love shows with good plot twists and it makes it even better if they all somehow come together in the end.
